TRAMORE PRIMARY CARE TEAM 1

Being part of a primary care team allows our patients free access to physiotherapy, occupational therapy (both which are based in Tramore), speech & language therapy . We also have a dietician that visits our practice once a month to see our patients for dietary advice. Primary Care Teams provide a “one stop” approach and can meet or arrange the vast majority of the care needs you will require. The team’s Healthcare Professionals work together to share information and their respective skills to ensure patients with the greatest need receive services in a timely and coordinated way.

CHILD HEALTH & IMMUNISATIONS

The optimum care of children is a key aim for our practice. The health professionals have extensive experience in dealing with childhood problems. All the doctors have received specific postgraduate training in paediatrics and have completed a diploma in child health.
Appointment requests for children are given priority and we try to keep waiting times for children to a minimum.

Early childhood vaccinations are given to prevent illnesses that children of this age are especially vulnerable to. These illnesses, in the past have been responsible for a large portion of serious ill health in babies. Now thankfully due to the vaccination program these diseases are much rarer. Vaccinations are given at two months, four months, six months, twelve months and thirteen months. These are given by the practice nurse. If you have any concerns about this process you can speak to any of the health professionals onsite. A useful website for further information www.immunisations.ie

TRAVEL VACCINES

International travel for business and pleasure is now part of everyday life. Many foreign destinations have common illnesses not encountered in Ireland. To minimise your risk of developing these illnesses it is important to receive protective vaccinations prior to your trip. You will generally require vaccinations if you are travelling outside of the countries of Western Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. For some countries vaccination is mandatory for entry. In addition anti-malarial tablet medication may be required depending on the destination.
It is therefore advisable to visit your doctor to discuss these issues. Ideally you should attend four to six weeks prior to travel as vaccines require time in your body before leading to sufficient protection.
In addition some vaccines require more than one dose. Last minute travellers should still seek advice as late vaccines will offer some protection.
Our practice is an approved Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. We also stock all common vaccines.
When attending for your appointment please bring any information you have on prior vaccination.

A useful website to visit for information on all destinations is wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/vaccinations.htm
